Welcome to “How To Become An Affiliate Master, Using the Principles of Bruce Lee”. Please make sure you finished everything outlined yesterday.
If you’ve completed it, congratulations and very well done! By using the principles of Bruce Lee and following this course you will be well on your way to becoming an affiliate master.
Bruce Lee had to master the fundamentals before moving on to different techniques and fighting styles. The same goes for affiliate marketing.
You’ll be learning the fundamentals over the next 28 days.
So many people get distracted and never take the action needed, in order to be successful online.
They’re always chasing “The Next Best Thing” or the “Secret Strategy To Make Them Rich”.
The truth is, there is no holy grail.
Building a business takes time and effort – there’s no magic bullet.
That’s why it’s so important to be following this proven system. It takes time, but it compounds the more you do it.
Now that you have done your market research and chosen an affiliate program you’re ready to move on to the next step.
Buying Your Own Domain Name For A Simple Review Site
First up you’re going to need to invest about $10 in a domain name. A domain name is a website name.
Having your own domain name is going to help people take you more seriously, you’ll look more professional and you’ll be allowed to link to your domain name from articles (future training).
You can’t just link directly to your affiliate link, as it’s against the Terms of Service of most article distribution sites.
The way around it, is getting your own domain name and building a simple one-page review site for your new domain (don’t worry, this is easy to do in FusionHQ – even if you’re a non techie and have never built a site before).
Another benefit of having a review site is you’ll be able to pre-sell people before they click through to your affiliate link. Pre-selling is when you warm the visitor up before they see the offer. This can be done by doing a review, or giving good related content, with your product being the answer to their problem.
Pre-selling helps increase conversion rates and is a good method to follow.
So here’s what you could do…
Write a review about the product you’re promoting, with a call to action at the end telling them where they can purchase it (through your affiliate link of course).
When writing a review, be honest and try not to be too biased.
You might even find that the affiliate program you joined already has a review in there for you to use. FusionHQ already has a pre-written review for people to use (we’ll be using FusionHQ as an example throughout this course).
If your affiliate product has a pre-written review in the affiliate area I’d recommend changing it slightly to make it your own – it’s good practice, but not necessary.
You’ll be adding the review to your review website – but first you need a domain name…
Searching For Your Domain
Here are some domain name tips:
- Look for a domain with 2-4 words in it.
- Only buy a .com .org or .net (.com is preferable)
- Try to include your product name if you can
- Try to include the word “review” if you can
- Add abbreviations to find domains that are available
- Make sure when you read your domain name out someone could understand how to spell it E.g. If you domain had the number 2 in it, some people would mistake that for ‘two’, ‘to’, or ‘too’.
- If you’re struggling try adding a hyphen
Here’s how to find a domain name:
1. Go to www.namecheap.com to search for a domain name.
2. Click the “bulk domain search” link under the search box.
3. Type in the domains you might want to register (one per line). You need to buy a domain name that has not been purchased by someone else.
For this example let’s use the product FusionHQ. Preferably you want the product name in the domain (if it’s not too long). FusionHQreview.com would be ideal – but unfortunately it has already been taken.
Here are some sample variations
Bestfusionhqreview.com (this was taken but available in .org and .net)
Fusionhqreviewsite.com (this was taken but available in .org and .net)
Myfusionhqreview.com (this was taken but available in .org and .net)
Thefusionhqreview.com (this was taken but available in .org and .net)
Fusionhqinfo.com (this was taken but available in .org and .net)
I’m happy with purchasing www.myfusionhqreview.org
Purchasing Your Domain Name
If you’re using FusionHQ I’d highly recommend you purchase your domains in there. It’ll make building your review site a lot easier because FusionHQ comes with hosting and helps you build the website using drag n drop.
If you don’t want to use FusionHQ you could purchase your domain through namecheap.com, change your nameservers to connect it to your hosting, then use wordpress to build your site (We’ll only focus on showing you how to do it in FusionHQ as it’s the simplest way).
Here’s how to buy your domain name using FusionHQ:
1. Login to your FusionHQ account
2. Click “Settings” then “Profile” and make sure your address and phone number is filled in (it’s legally required to buy a domain name).
3. Scroll down and click save.
4. Click the “Central Contol” button on the top left.
5. Click the “Domains and Hosting” tab
6. Type in the domain name and click “Buy Domain”
7. Pay via Paypal and you’re done (all the techie stuff such as changing nameservers, sorting out FTP is already done automatically so you don’t even need to think about it)
Cloaking Your Affiliate Link
To find this you will need to login to the affiliate area of the product.
You want to make sure you receive the commissions you deserve. Sometimes people can delete your tracking code from your affiliate link so you will not get a commission for the sale.
Not fair, right?
To protect yourself, you can cloak your link. Affiliate links are usually quite obvious and usually very long and ugly. If you cloak your link, generally the link will be shorter and people cannot delete your tracking code.
Which means you will get commissions on any sales you make and it will not look obvious you’re promoting as an affiliate.
There are many different cloaking services out there. I recommend www.bit.ly – it’s free and it also tracks clicks and give you some nice data.
1. Sign up to Bit.ly
2. Login
3. Shorten your affiliate link
4. Copy cloaked link. You can customize the cloaked link if you want. This will allow you to change the last part of the link to something nicer and easier to remember.
Example: “bit.ly/FHQS” (remember each one needs to be unique, if someone else has used that customization, you will not be able to use it).
Now that you have a cloaked link, it’s time to start spreading the word and working towards driving traffic. Once you begin driving traffic to your cloaked link you can go back to bit.ly, login and see traffic data.

That’s all for today, have fun! I’ll see you tomorrow
